Civils and Utilities Construction Works
Darlow Lloyd & Sons (DLS) carried out the majority of civils and utilities construction works required on Coed Ely solar farm, South Wales.
Built on a reclaimed colliery site, the solar farm features 9,000 panels and produces enough electricity to power around 1,800 homes each year, and as well as powering homes, that energy is helping keep the lights on, machines running, and care flowing at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
Works carried out by DLS on the project include:
allow Lloyd & Sons
- 11kv cable private wire installation connecting Royal Glamorgan Hospital to the solar farm
- Installation of all on site ducting
- Access road/site compound install and set up
- BTM/FTM base installation
- Drainage works throughout site
- Landscaping/bio-diversity works
- Site remediation & landscaping works
Works on the project started November 2024, until completion in September 2025. DLS utilised up to 15 workers on site as well as our own machinery, including excavators, dumpers, tractors, and cable pulling equipment. The project was overseen by Jacob Lloyd, with assistance from site manager George Walton and senior quantity surveyor Tom James.
