Radu-Mihai Mitrea

Contract Manager

Radu joined the Darlow Lloyd & Sons team in January 2022 in a support role for the team at TATA Steel Morfa Coke Ovens in Port Talbot and in July 2022 was appointed Contracts Manager for the Morfa Coke Ovens.

He brings over 20 years of steel industry experience to our business, from managing a range of operations with 100+ personnel, in an extremely fast paced environment in both UK and Europe mainland, with £20mil+ annual turnover, on both Blast Furnace and Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) sites. Radu takes direct and full responsibility for all contract management aspects, including SHEQ and P&L.

Radu has vast multicultural experience and maintains the highest standards for the safety of the employees and customer as his top priorities.  

Qualifications:

• BSc in Political and Administrative Sciences from Spiru Haret University in Bucharest.
• NEBOSH General Certificate
• Operations Management diploma from Roffey Park Institute UK (who specialise in Global Leadership and Organisational Development).

Radu has recently been responsible for the Port Talbot, Morfa Coke Ovens decommissioning cleaning, which was delivered with a perfect safety record, on time and on budget. Radu I rightly proud of his delivery of this project.

It is not a secret to anyone that knows him, his one and only hobby whilst not in work is carp fishing, which is something that he has been doing from a very young age. “It is all about being in the nature, either alone with my thoughts or in the company of family and/or friends. Radu thinks it’s the best thing ever…. his wife on the other hand…”
